The Melvin Sabshin, M.D., Library and Archives welcomes members and visitors to view APA's collection of rare books, historical documents, oral histories, and other valuable records of American psychiatry. Since the organization's inception in 1844, APA members have championed the principles of learning and research.
Over the decades, generous gifts of books, papers, photographs, and other artifacts from the personal collections of APA members (including Marion Kenworthy, M.D., Garfield Tourney, M.D., Adolf Meyer, M.D., John Whitehorn, M.D., Charles Prudhomme, M.D., Walter Barton, M.D., and many others) have helped to form the Sabshin Library into a premier resource for researchers in a multitude of fields.
Access to the Melvin Sabshin, M.D. Library and Archives is by appointment only during Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Research requests can be sent to the Librarian, Deena Gorland, at [email protected] or 202-559-3759.
