Dr. Pi was born in China and received his medical degree from the Catholic University College of Medicine in Korea. He is an accomplished researcher in the fields of cross-cultural psychiatry and psychopharmacology. He served as chair of the Committee of Asian American Psychiatrists, he served on the Council on National Affairs from 1998 to 1999; and he served on the Council on Professional Values and Human Dignity from 1999 to 2000. He also served as chair of the Minority/Underrepresented Groups (MURs) and Member of the Executive Committee, APA Assembly, from 2013–2014.
Dr. Pi was the recipient of the Kun-Po Soo award in 2009, is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA, and serves on the APA Foundation Board.
