Dr. Jayaram received her medical degree from Bangalore University/Kempegowda Institute of Medical Science in 1974. She is Professor of Psychiatry in the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing. She chaired the APA Scientific Program Committee for two years, and her leadership over three decades has spanned the Assembly, Councils, and Committees of the APA.
Dr. Jayaram was awarded the Kun-Po Soo Award in 2016 and the APA Administrative Psychiatry Award in 2018 for her leadership and administrative work and promotion of Asian American Psychiatry. She is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA.
