Dr. Lin was born in Taipei and earned his medical degree from National Taiwan University, Taipei, in 1971. He was the founder of two major Asian mental health centers and served on several national committees overseeing mental health research and training, including APA's Council on Research and Task Force for DSM-V.
Dr. Lin's work includes groundbreaking contributions to cross-ethnic psychopharmacology and psychiatric nosology, as well as epidemiology, medical anthropology, and refugee mental health. He served on the Committee of Asian American Psychiatrists, was the recipient of the Kung-Po Soo Award in 2002, and is an APA Distinguished Life Fellow.
