Lecture Title: Aspects of Asian Psychiatry: Evolving Concern's and Cultural Issues
Dr. Sata was born in Portland, Oregon, and received his medical degree from the University of Utah College of Medicine (1958). Dr. Sata was director of Harborview Mental Health Center in 1971 and a founding member of Pacific Rim College Psychiatrists. He was recruited to St. Louis University as the Samuel Fordyce Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior in early 1978.
Dr. Sata served as the first chairperson of the APA Task Force on Asian American Psychiatrists from 1975 to 1980 and was actively involved on the APA Council of National Affairs. Dr. Sata was an APA Life Fellow and the recipient of the Asian/Asian-American Award in 1992.
