Lecture Title: Remembering the Past and Living in the Now: Modernization in East Asian Countries and Psychotherapy
Dr. Nishizono was a pioneer in integrating community mental health care with hospital-based treatment in Japan. Dr. Nishizono was an active proponent of international collaboration in psychiatry and served as President of the Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists, the Association for Medical Education in the Western Pacific Region, and the Asian Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions. A Corresponding Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, Dr. Nishizono received numerous awards, including the Alexander Gralnick Award from the American Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
