Dr. Miller, born in Indianapolis, earned both his bachelor's and medical degrees from the Indiana University School of Medicine by the age of 23 (1950). He completed his residency in psychiatry in 1953 at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas.
Dr. Miller served as Deputy Director and Director of Critical Care for the California Department of Mental Health. His interest in cross-cultural issues fueled his research on counseling individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and studying the adaptation of Asian and other international students and medical graduates in the United States. He was a Life Member of the APA and the recipient of the Kun-Po Soo Award in 1994.
