Dr. Panahon received her medical degree in 1967 from the College of Medicine, University of the Philippines, Manila. She was medical director of outpatient services at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center in Buffalo, N.Y., and was a private practitioner.
Dr. Panahon has a long history of advocacy on behalf of IMGs, having served as chair of the APA Committee on IMGs and the APA Caucus of Asian-American Psychiatrists and as president of the Philippine Psychiatrists in America. Dr. Panahon was the recipient of the George Tarjan Award in 2004 and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA.
