Dr. Mollica is a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma (HPRT) at Massachusetts General Hospital. Under Dr. Mollica’s direction, HPRT has pioneered the medical and mental health care of survivors of mass violence and torture and conducts clinical, training, policy, and research activities for populations affected by mass violence around the world. Between 1995 and 2000, Dr. Mollica worked with his Japanese colleagues in Kobe, Japan, responding to the Kobe earthquake and establishing a national mental health disaster relief policy.
