Lecture Title: Psychoanalysis and Eastern Cultures: Adversaries or Allies?
Dr. Akhtar is Lecturer on Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, and Professor of Psychiatry at Jefferson Medical College. He is also a training and supervision analyst at the Philadelphia Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Akhtar is a Fellow of the APA and the American College of Psychoanalysts. He is the author of, among several others, Broken Structures, Inner Torment, Immigration, and Identity, and New Clinical Realms. Dr. Akhtar's more than 185 scientific publications also include 19 edited or co-edited books, including: The Seed of Madness, Colors of Childhood, Thicker than Blood, Does God Help?, Three Faces of Mourning, Language of Emotions, and Mental Zoo (in press). Dr. Akhtar is a Fellow of the APA and the American College of Psychoanalysts.
