Dr. Ng is Hispanic of Asian ancestry, father of three, migrant involved with a migrant, international graduate, researcher, son of migrants, author, rural and global psychiatrist, and describes the 2024 Simon Bolivar awardee. Born in Mexicali, Mexico, a city located at the US-Mexico border, he migrated to the state of Nuevo Leon for his medical degree and once again for postgraduate training in the United States. He became a general psychiatrist and a liaison psychiatrist after training at two different sites, both at the southern border. Upon completion of his training, rather than becoming a full-time professor, he migrated to a rural, underserved area right at the border with Mexico, where he has worked since 1993.
