Lecture Title: Toward Personalized Psychiatry: Individual Risk of Developing and Having Recurrent Manic Episodes Two 20-Year Prospective Studies
Dr. Birmaher is the Endowed Chair in Bipolar Disorder, Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh, Director of the Child and Adolescent Bipolar Spectrum Services and a Lifelong Fellow from the APA and the AACAP. He received his medical degree from Valle University, Cali, Colombia, training in psychiatry at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and child psychiatry at Columbia University, New York. His research is focused on pediatric mood and anxiety disorders. He has participated in over 25 federally sponsored research grants, authored over 450 publications, published numerous chapters and a book, and received numerous prestigious awards.
