Lecture Title: An Update on the Treatment and Research of Treatment-Resistant Depression and bipolar Disorder
Dr. Zarate completed his psychiatry residency at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center/Brockton Veterans Administration Medical Center division and then pursued a fellowship in clinical psychopharmacology at McLean Hospital, part of Harvard Medical School’s Consolidated Department of Psychiatry. He stayed on at McLean as the director of Bipolar and Psychotic Disorders Outpatient Services. From 1998 to 2000, he served as chief of the Bipolar and Psychotic Disorders Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School before joining the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program at NIMH in 2001. His research centers on the pathophysiology and development of new treatments for treatment-resistant mood disorders, as well as the study of biomarkers and neural correlates of treatment response.
