Lecture Title: Transforming Mental Health through Leadership, Discovery, and Collaboration; From Clinical Epidemiology to Clinical Trials in Bipolar Disorders
Dr. Tohen is a Mexican American research psychiatrist, Distinguished Professor, and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the University of New Mexico. He earned his MD from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City in 1976, and completed his psychiatry training at the University of Toronto, where he also received a DPsych Diploma in Psychiatric Research (1979–1982). He further pursued a fellowship in Psychopharmacology (1982–1985) at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and earned a Doctorate in public health (epidemiology) in 1988 from the Harvard School of Public Health. In 2000, Dr. Tohen also obtained an MBA from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.
