Nursing students prepare for jobs at Central State Hospital during a time when African Americans had few or no options for nursing education.The Supreme Court struck down racial segregation in its Brown v. Board of Education decision in 1954. Many classes of nursing students would go on to complete their training at Central State Hospital.
