2000 George Tarjan Award Recipient
Lecture Title: The Contributions of the International Medical: Graduates to American Psychiatry
Dr. Spurlock received a medical degree from Howard University in 1947 and then undertook postgraduate training in Chicago at Provident Hospital, Cook County Hospital, and the Institute for Juvenile Research. She completed psychoanalytic training at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis (1962). She served as Director of APA's Office of Minority and National Affairs (1974-1991). She was a Distiguised Life Member of APA, recipient of the Solomon Carter Fuller Award (1988) and the George Tarjan Award (2000).
