In 1972, during the 125th APA Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, a panel discussion entitled, Psychiatry: Friend or Foe to Homosexuals? (A Dialogue). The participants called for affirmative action by APA in alleviating discrimination against homosexuals and in reconsidering its diagnostic classification of homosexuality as a personality disorder.
