The Public Psychiatry Fellowship program provides support for a group of outstanding residents interested in the field of public and community psychiatry. This program creates opportunities for residents to participate in important APA activities, plan workshops at APA meetings, and interact with thought leaders in the field of public psychiatry. The purpose of the Public Psychiatry fellowship program are to (1) provide experiences that will contribute to the professional development of residents who will play leadership roles within the public sector in future years and (2) to heighten awareness of the psychiatric residents of the many activities of psychiatry in the public sector and of the career opportunities in this area.
