Asian American Trailblazers in Psychiatry: Past, Present & Future

This gallery recognizes Asian American psychiatrists who fostered a more extensive inclusion of cross-cultural exposure in psychiatric training and advocated for the numerous issues confronting psychiatrists of Asian origin in the United States. The past, present, and future leaders displayed in this gallery have made significant impacts within APA and on the field of psychiatry as a whole.

Kun-Po Soo Award

The Asian/Asian-American Award Lecture was established in 1987 and renamed the Kun-Po Soo Award in 1997. This award recognizes significant contributions to understanding the influence of Asian cultural heritage in psychiatry. It also aims to encourage scholarship and research on culture-specific mental health issues, the treatment needs of Asian populations, and to promote scientific exchange on transcultural topics.
