Dr. Yeung was born in Hong Kong, received his medical degree from National Taiwan University, and his Doctor of Science degree with a major in epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health. He completed residency training in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
Dr. Yeung is Director of Primary Care Research at the Depression Clinical and Research Program at MGH and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. His major research interests include Asian mental health, integrating primary care and mental health services to improve treatment of depression, and the use of complementary and alternative methods including acupuncture, tai chi, qigong, and mind body group interventions in treating anxiety and depressive disorders. He has authored or co-authored over 160 original articles, numerous book chapters, and two books: “Self-Management of Depression” and “The Science of Stress.”
Dr. Yeung was the recipient of the Gold Award for Health Services Achievement in 2011 from the APA, the Kun-Po Soo Award in 2017, the Award for Advancing Minority Mental Health from the American Psychiatric Association Foundation in 2018, and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA.
