Lecture Title: DSM-IV-5 and Culture: Lessons Learned from 20 Years of Training Cultural Psychiatry-Applied Cultural Humility
Dr. Lim completed his adult psychiatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a health sciences clinical professor at the University of California, Davis, where he has been for the last 17 years. He is committed to providing mental health services to seriously, persistently mentally ill adults in the community, with an emphasis on culturally appropriate diagnosis and treatment. He edited The Clinical Manual of Cultural Psychiatry, Second Edition, for APPI in 2015 and the first edition in 2006. In his role as chair of the Diversity Advisory Committee (DAC), founded in 1999, he received the American College of Psychiatrists’ Award for Creativity in Psychiatric Education in 2007. DAC’s four-year curriculum in cultural psychiatry was chosen as one of two model curricula in cultural psychiatry by the American Association of Directors of Psychiatry Training in 2010.
