Lecture Title: Lessons Learned from 30 Years of A Research Career
Dr. Canino is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine, University of Puerto Rico, and serves as the director of the Behavioral Sciences Research Institute. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico and a doctorate in psychology from Temple University. For the past 28 years, she has been a leading researcher focused on improving the health of Latino populations in Puerto Rico. Dr. Canino has published extensively on topics including instrument psychometrics, psychiatric epidemiology, mental health services, pediatric asthma, and health disparities. As both a professor and researcher, she has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on several grants funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
