Lecture Title: Mental Health Services for Hispanics: Convergence of Research
Dr. Rogler, originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, earned his B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1951, followed by his M.A. and Ph.D. in 1952 and 1957. He served as the Director of the Hispanic Research Center at Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, and had a distinguished career focused on qualitative research regarding the social and mental health of families in Puerto Rico, the United States, and various Latin American countries. Throughout his career, he received numerous grants and authored two key reference works for the National Advisory Mental Health Council of the National Institute of Mental Health, U.S. Public Health Service (1972–1976). He was also appointed to create five-year research plans for the National Institutes of Health and the Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Administration.
