Lecture Title: Prevalence, Correlates, and Risk of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: How Latinos Fare Compared to Non-Latinos Whites, Asians, African America, and Afro-Caribbean
Dr. Alegría is the Chief of the Disparities Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and The Mongan Institute, where she holds the Harry G. Lehnert, Jr. and Lucille F. Cyr Lehnert Endowed MGH Research Institute Chair. She is also a professor in the Departments of Medicine and Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Alegría earned her B.A. in Psychology from Georgetown University in 1978 and her Ph.D. from Temple University in 1989. Her career has focused on reducing health disparities among populations of color, immigrants, and linguistic minorities.
