Dr. Delgado received his M.D. and an M.A. in pharmacology from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed a psychiatry residency at Yale University School of Medicine (1988). Dr. Delgado is an internationally renowned expert on the neurobiology of major depression and the biological mechanisms underlying antidepressant action. His work in translational neurosciences was recognized in 1995 when he shared the international Anna Monika Prize for work on the biology of depression. He is a member of many leading national and international mental health organizations and is past president of the American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry.
