Dr. Muñoz, originally from Colombia, earned his M.D. from the University of Cauca. He later relocated to Washington University in St. Louis to complete his medical training. A Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA, Dr. Muñoz chaired the Committee on International Medical Graduates (1980-1986). He also made history as the first Latino President of the APA (1998–99) and was honored as the first recipient of the George Tarjan Award (1996).
