ca. 1966, Vietnam
Capt. Cunningham, commander of the Special Forces 'A' Team at Duc Co, Vietnam, was instrumental in enabling Capt. Bourne to conduct the stress studies on the twelve 'A' Team members. Capt. Cunningham was killed in a compact one month after this photo was taken. At that time, the life expectancy of a Special Forces 'A' Team leader was three months, the worst mortality rate for any American unit in any war.
